The Weeknd is coming home to Toronto for the JUNO Awards this weekend.
Abel Tesfaye was born in Scarborough, pretty much a music hub in the scene of Toronto today. Several artists and producers from Scarborough are gaining well deserved credibility and attention from the mainstream American music industry. The Weeknd has gone Hollywood and that is no lie, being featured on Ariana Grande’s hit single with “Love Me Harder” and two recent songs being on the recent Blockbuster soundtrack to “Fifty Shades of Grey“.
The Weeknd is nominated this year at the JUNO awards for Artist of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. We are pretty sure he is going to be taking something home. It has been a big year for Canadian artists such as Drake who recently dropped the album “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” and MAGIC! who are currently on tour with Maroon 5. Let’s not forget Kiesza who took the world by storm with her video sensation for new house classic Hideaway.
Don’t get too excited Toronto about a full time return ’cause he’s not done living the dream just yet.
